Tutorial for setting up a 360 router as a secondary router
Question:How to set a 360 router as a secondary router?
I already have a router at home, and I bought a 360 router today;
I heard from a friend that you can set the 360 router as a secondary router to access the Internet, but I am a computer whiz and don’t know how to set it up.
Answer:There are 2 ways to connect a 360 wireless router to a router that can access the Internet and set it as a secondary router to access the Internet:
1. Set up dynamic IP Internet access on the 360 router
2. Set the 360 router to wireless AP
Method 1. Set up dynamic IP Internet access on the 360 router
Set the 360 router to dynamic IP Internet access. This method has a total of 4 operating steps, which are as follows:
Connecting a 360 router
Log in to the settings page
set up a wireless network
Set up dynamic IP Internet access
Below, I will follow this order of steps to introduce the specific operation steps of this method.
1. Connect the 360 router
Use a network cable, connect one end to the LAN interface of your original router at home, and the other end to the WAN interface of the 360 router.
If you are using a computer to set up, then the computer can use a network cable to connect to any LAN interface in the 360 router.
Warm reminder:
Router 2 in the above figure represents a 360 router. Router 1 represents the original router at home.
2. Log in to the settings page
Enter in your browser:luyou.360.cn or 192.168.0.1, and press the Enter key on the keyboard-then enter the “Management Password” to log in to the settings page of this 360 router.
3. Set up wireless network
On the settings page of the 360 router, click “WiFi Settings”
Then you can see the settings of “WiFi Name” and “WiFi Password”. You can set them by yourself.
Questions to note:
(1) The “WiFi name” of the 360 router should not be the same as the WiFi name of the original router at home.
(2) It is best not to use Chinese characters to set the “WiFi name” of the 360 router, because some mobile phones and laptops do not support wifi signals with Chinese names.
4. Set up dynamic IP Internet access
Click “Internet Settings”
Select “Dynamic IP Internet Access”-click “OK”.
The next page mainly introduces the second method, which is to set the 360 router as a wireless AP. Please click to view it.
Method 2: Set the 360 router as a wireless AP
Set the 360 router as a wireless AP. This method has a total of 6 steps:
Connect your computer to your 360 router
Log in to the settings page
set up a wireless network
Modify LAN port IP address
Shut down the DHCP server
Connect the 360 router to the original router
1. Connect the computer to the 360 router
Prepare a network cable, connect one end to the network port of the computer, and the other end to the LAN interface in the 360 router.
Questions to note:
When setting the 360 router as a wireless AP, the first step of this method is that the 360 router cannot be connected to the original router. After all settings are completed, the connection can be carried out in the last step.
4. Modify the IP address of the LAN port
Click “Route Settings”-“Advanced Settings”-“Modify Router Address” to open
Then I saw an “IP Address” option. Here we need to modify this IP address. The specific amount to change needs to be determined based on the LAN port IP address of the original router in your home. I will explain in detail below.
If the original LAN port IP address of the router at home is:192.168.0.1, then this needs to be revised to:192.168.0.2
If the original LAN port IP address of the router at home is:192.168.1.1, then this needs to be revised to:192.168.1.2
If the original LAN port IP address of the router at home is:192.168.2.1, then this needs to be revised to:192.168.2.2
Questions to note:
(1) If you don’t know the LAN port IP address of your original router at home, please connect to the router with your computer, log in to the settings page to view it; then modify the LAN port IP address of the 360 router according to the above method.
(2) Because the original LAN port IP address of Brother Hong’s home router was 192.168.1.1, I will change the LAN port IP address of my 360 router to: 192.168.1.2.
(3) In the future, please use the modified LAN port IP address to open the settings page of this 360 router. For example, my 360 router will need to enter 192.168.1.2 in the browser to open its settings page.
5. Turn off the DHCP server
Close the DHCP server of the 360 router. The location of the operation is on the page where the IP address of the LAN port was modified just now, as shown in the following figure. There is an option for “DHCP Server” below. Click the button at the back to set it to OFF, and it will be closed.
6. Connect the 360 router to the original router
Prepare a network cable, connect one end to the LAN interface of the original router, and the other end to the idle LAN interface in the 360 router, as shown in the following figure.
Questions to note:
(1) In the above figure, the router in the middle represents the 360 router.
(2) When we set the 360 router as a wireless AP, the WAN interface in this 360 router is useless and does not require connection. Please pay attention to this.
Important notes:
Finally, Hongge would like to remind everyone that the quality of the network cable used to connect the 360 router to the original router at home must be up to standard. Many low-quality network cables on the market cannot transmit data when the length reaches twenty to thirty meters.
